It is so sad. In my opinion ths woman is mentally ill. I don't blame her so much as the doctor who gave her IVF. I hope they are not still practicing. Poor poor poor babies. Ugh and then I more recently heard about numerous 911 calls made from her house. To be honest with you I have tried to quit thinking about it.

For a long time I've felt that if you're on welfare, receiving any type of govt help (housing, food, childcare etc) that you should also be on state issued birth control. If you can't afford to live how you are living, you shouldn't be able to bring more life into this world.

As someone going through fertility treatments right now trying to have our FIRST child, yes, this story blew my mind. When I first read all the info about the fertility place we're using, one of the big things they stressed was they try very hard to prevent multiples (twins and triplets happen at times but that's unavoidable) because of the ethical issues. It's not healthy for the mother, it's unfair to the children. It's a slippery slope in that I don't think anyone should be able to tell us how many children we're allowed to have,(hello, China!) there's such a thing as common sense and responsibility. I don't know where this story will lead if anywhere, but I certainly hope it serves as a cautionary story for the general public and the fertility business. I understand this woman who must be a little mentally off, but cannot comprehend any fertility doctor who would allow this to happen.

I read a lot of blogs out there in the blogisphere, a lot of blogs documenting people trials with fertility and conception. I find it very insulting to these people who want more than anything to have merely ONE child. A woman would could somehow manipulate the system like she has must be a huge slap in the face for such couples.

i think that anyone who is defendant on welfare consistently should not be allowed to procreate unconditionally as much as they would like. this woman is an outrage and has no regard for the sanctity of life. my husband i and would like to have 4 or 5 kids, but we know that we can't afford to provide for them in the way that have imagined and dream to. this is all true when we make well above the average income for a family in CA. i can't imagine that this woman can provide for 14 children when she is unemployed. shame on her.

I'm wondering about the dr. who's transferring that many embryos at once. They just don't do that anymore because sometimes they all implant successfully. It's think it's considered irresponsible now.
